Refund Policy

Last updated: May 15, 2026

Proofing-only projects

Proofing-only projects. Draftli supports projects where no payment is processed through the Service. For such projects, no transaction exists for Draftli to refund or dispute. Any refund or financial dispute arising from a proofing-only project must be resolved directly between Creator and Client, outside of Draftli. Draftli has no role in, and assumes no liability for, payment arrangements made outside the Service.

Refunds for client payments (deposit and balance)

Draftli is not a party to the transaction between a creator and their client. The creator is the merchant of record for every client payment — including any deposit and the final balance — and the creator's business name appears on the client's card or bank statement. Draftli does not initiate, process, or hold client payments.

Refunds for client transactions are issued by the creator from their Stripe Dashboard. Once initiated, the refund returns to the original payment method via Stripe; this typically completes within 5–10 business days, depending on the issuing bank. Refunds are issued in the original charge currency — cross-currency refunds are not supported by Stripe.

If you are a client and wish to request a refund, please contact the creator who shared the review link with you directly.

Subscription refunds (Pro and Ultra)

Subscription fees paid to Draftli for Pro and Ultra plans are non-refundable. You may cancel at any time from the Stripe Billing Portal in your account settings, and your plan will remain active until the end of the current billing period. We do not pro-rate refunds for partial periods or unused features.

The binding text on subscription billing lives in our Terms of Service.

Deposit-specific terms

  • Deposits collected through Draftli are non-refundable retainers for work to be performed by the creator. Once the creator begins work, refundability is determined by the creator's own refund policy and is not enforced by Draftli.
  • If you have not yet started work with the creator and wish to request a deposit refund, contact the creator directly. They issue refunds from their Stripe Dashboard.
  • Refunds of deposits do not automatically cancel the project — the creator may continue or end the engagement at their discretion.

Dispute pathway

If you believe a charge is incorrect or work has not been delivered, the steps below describe the standard pathway for resolving the dispute.

  1. Contact the creator first. Their business name appears on your card statement and at the top of every Draftli payment page.
  2. File a Stripe dispute via your card issuer. This is the standard chargeback process — your card issuer notifies Stripe, who notifies the creator's connected account. The creator responds with evidence; Stripe's decision is final. Draftli does not adjudicate.
  3. Consumer protection (if applicable to your jurisdiction). For UK clients, the Citizens Advice consumer service is the standard route; for EU clients, the European Consumer Centres (ECC-Net); for US clients, your state Attorney General. These bodies act against the creator (the merchant of record), not against Draftli.

EU-specific note

EU clients: Custom creative work commissioned to your specifications is generally outside the right of withdrawal under the Consumer Rights Directive (Article 16(c)). Once work has commenced, the deposit and any partial payments may not be refundable, regardless of the cooling-off period.
